More on MØ…
Aka Karen Marie Ørsted landed on everyone’s radar when she posted the emotive, lush synthscapes of ‘Maiden’ online in May 2012, and followed up with a stunning turn at CMJ in New York in the autumn. Likened to the sounds of Grimes meets Lykke Li, MØ was soon to be tipped by the likes of Pitchfork, The Guardian, The Line of Best Fit and NME… they all voted onto the longlist of the Blog Sound of 2013 (The Blog Sound poll list was first published last year and its participating voters are solely UK music bloggers. The concept of the poll wasn’t to criticise the established BBC Sound of list (which is due next Monday), but simply an experiment to see if UK music bloggers could come up with its own list of emerging artists that was representative of some of their community…

Friday, July 5th, 2013Yesterday, Sir Elton John came to give us the honor of a private concert at the library OFR for the launch of the new magazine-book of Benoit Bethune Mémoire Universelle on the thema OH, L’AMOUR! He plays five of its most famous classic songs (don’t go breaking my heart, candle in the wind, crocodile rock, your song…) He surprised us by its simplicity and humility. After the concert, he stayed for a while drinking and talking with people as anybody… Goodbye, thank’s and good luck mister Elton John

Thursday, June 13th, 2013Paul Smith/ David Bowie
Monday, May 20th, 2013Music is one of Paul’s great passions. He and David Bowie have been friends throughout their respective careers at the forefront of fashion and music. This year, Paul Smith has teamed up with Bowie for a series of special collaborations to celebrate the musician’s critically acclaimed new album The Next Day , out now on Columbia Records. The latest instalment of the collaboration is a new limited-edition red vinyl of The Next Day. The Paul Smith and David Bowie vinyl is the only collaboration on the album, combining their exceptional style. Paul himself selected the distinctive translucent colour – David Bowie has never produced a red vinyl studio album before. It will be stocked on the Paul Smith website, as well as in selected Paul Smith shops and by selected wholesalers, including Selfridges and Nottingham Music Exchange. Earlier this year, Paul Smith kicked off the partnership with the official T-shirt for the album, featuring artwork designed by Jonathan Barnbrook printed on organic cotton with ‘Paul Smith for David Bowie’ insignia.
The limited edition vinyl launches on 17th May 2013.

Thursday, July 7th, 2011The UK has Glastonbury, Spain has Benicassim and Les Eurockéenes is full proof that France is up there with the best of the international rock festivals. 2011 marked the 23rd edition of the 3-day event, which saw 95,000 vibrant festival-goers travel to Belfort to see such legendary bands as Motorhead and Queens of the Stone Age…
The sun shone from start to finish as pulsating beats and electric riffs coursed through the Eurocks site. The location is perhaps one of the festival’s finest attributes: 4 stages are set against a backdrop of the Vosges Mountains, Lake Malsaucy and even a fresh water beach.
Showcasing everything from heavy metal to reggae and independent artists to established headliners, Eurockéenes is really a celebration of eclecticism. The phrase something for everyone rings true here, and this diversity ensures a conviviality and collective appreciation throughout the crowds. Head-banging stoners rocked out to Crystal Castles and dread-locked hippies chanted along to Jump Around with House of Pain. With no age restrictions in place, angsty teenagers and vintage rockers alike displayed the sign of the horns from within the mosh pits. Everyone and anyone is invited to the Eurocks party.

Plus loin vers l’Est
Sunday, October 24th, 2010On the remains of the wave punk, and along with music like disco, funk, ska and reggae, grows everywhere in Europe between the late 70s and mid 80s, a prolific music scene chaotic, combining rock energy, punk nihilism and electronic experimentation. Against the backdrop of economic crisis and the Cold War, the time is generally not optimistic nor joy. However, despite the coldness and cynicism of rigor is also identified in those years a form of hope and frenzied vitality fueled by a sort of modernist utopia, sometimes tinged with irony, which is demonstrated by the use of new or previously little used in the register pop. Thus, synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers of the first models, often associated with more traditional rock bands, will shape the sound of the coming decade to the present. Faced with the contradictions of his time, torn between the feeling of being on the edge and hope in the advent of a new world, devoid of ideological tangible benchmarks and refractory post-hippie utopias of the previous generation, all part of youth searching for identity can be recognized in texts, so dark, the cold synthetic music and the casual attitude of new groups that emerge across Europe.
